Avoiding Recession Won't Be Easy With The Economic Challenges In Play | Andy Constan
"Soft" landings are rare
There’s been a lot of talk recently about potential risks to the financial system from two looming events:
the continued draining of the Reverse Repo Program, and
the March expiry of the Bank Term Funding Program (BTFP)
For guidance, we're fortunate to talk with Andy Constan, founder of the macroeconomic research firm Damped Spring — he’s another voice the Thoughtful Money audience has been asking me of late to get on the program.
He sees the likelihood of a 'soft landing' as low given today's economic challenges.
And in his explanation, Andy delivers a detailed summary of how the Reverse Repo Program (RRP) and the Bank Term Funding Program (BTFP) both work, and whether or not their expiry could trigger a liquidity crisis.
